Inter defender Federico Dimarco is very pleased to have gotten himself on the scoresheet for the first time for the Italian national team and helped the team to an important Nations League win over Hungary yesterday evening.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset after the match, the 24-year-old gave his reaction to the match and noted that he is very pleased to have now scored his first goal in an Azzurri shirt.

Italy are having to bounce back from the disappointment of failing to qualify for the World Cup this year, but they could hardly think of a better way of doing so than getting two wins from two against the likes of England and Hungary during the current international break.

Dimarco’s form has been one of the standout points for the Azzurri during these two victories, as he capped off a fine display with his first ever goal for the senior international team, something which obviously meant a lot for the 24-year-old.

“I’m really happy for my goal,” he said, “the important thing was to win and the we did so in front of 60,000 of our fans. The team suffered but remained compact, we’re happy to have reached the finals.”
