Danilo D’Ambrosio is increasingly unlikely to stay at Inter beyond the summer, according to a report in the Italian media tonight.

FcInterNews.it said there was only a slim chance now of the defender signing a new deal when his contract expires at the end of the season.

D’Ambrosio earns €2.2 million annually at Inter and that is too much for a reserve player, in a time where the Nerazzurri are looking to cut costs.

Inter’s talks with D’Ambrosio over a new deal are therefore stalling, opening the door for a move elsewhere.

D’Ambrosio is said to have been offered to Lazio and AC Milan, but another option is Napoli who are seeking a replacement for Elseid Hysaj.

What’s more, the Partenopei are expected to appoint former Inter boss Luciano Spalletti in the summer and he has already coached D’Ambrosio for two seasons.

Spalletti knows D’Ambrosio well and would be able to use him in a back four, meaning their paths could well meet again in Naples.
