Inter have won the Serie A title for the 20th time with a 2-1 win over rivals Milan in the Derby della Madonnina on Monday night.

Goals from Francesco Acerbi and Marcus Thuram secured the victory despite a late Fikayo Tomori reducer and three red cards being issued late on.

The Nerazzurri managed to hold on to move 17 points clear with five games of the Italian top flight campaign remaining.

It is the joint-earliest the title has ever been lifted, along with Napoli last season, Juventus in 2019, Fiorentina in 1956, Torino in 1948 and Inter themselves in 2007.

In addition, it is also the first time that a Milan derby result has decided the destination of the championship.

Victory also allows Inter to now stitch a second star onto their jersey, with Italian tradition dictating a team is awarded with the Scudetto star for every 10 titles won.

This is their 20th title win and only their second since 2010, having last triumphed in 2021.
