Lazio defender Francesco Acerbi is getting closer to joining Inter on loan and the deal could be completed by this weekend.

This according to Italian news outlet Il Messaggero, who report that the Nerazzurri are edging towards a deal for the 34-year-old on an initial loan deal after meetings with his representatives in recent days.

Acerbi has long been on Inter’s radar as a possible final signing of the window as they look to bring in a low-cost defensive option to provide cover in the backline following the departure of Andrea Ranocchia to join Monza at the beginning of the summer.

The Nerazzurri have yet to move for Acerbi and have been exploring other options as well and waiting until later in the window to make their move, but he is becoming an increasingly serious target for them.
