Inter could decide to sign a left-wingback during the January transfer window if they do not see an improvement from Robin Gosens in the position.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the Nerazzurri are waiting to see if the German can find form over the next couple months but that they would not rule out moving for a different option in the role as early as January.

A lot was expected when Gosens was brought to Inter during last January’s transfer window, as the 28-year-old’s proven quality in Serie A with Atalanta as well as the fact that he is an established German international raised expectations that he would be the long-term solution in the position.

However, the German has hardly managed to replicate the form that Ivan Perisic had shown down the left flank last season, and there is real concern within the club regarding the position.

Gosens will still be given the opportunity to prove himself in the matches heading into the World Cup break, but if his form does not pick up, a move in the transfer market cannot be ruled out.
