Barella’s current deal is set to expire at the end of June 2024, but the club are hoping to secure his future beyond this date as he is a player they will look to build around in the long term.

Agreeing on a deal with the 24-year-old is a priority with interest in his signature coming from a number of top European clubs, and he will likely be offered a significant salary increase.

Barella is such an important player for the Nerazzurri that he could be offered the club captaincy when current skipper Samir Handanovic, and so the club want to speed up the process of having him commit his future.
