Inter remain convinced Lautaro Martinez will sign a new deal at the club despite ditching his agents, according to a report in the Italian media today.

Corriere dello Sport’s print edition said the Nerazzurri expected Lautaro to follow in the footsteps of Milan Skriniar, who left his manager in 2018 before signing a new contract with the club himself.

Inter intend to increase Lautaro’s annual salary from €2.7 million to €5 million plus add-ons as part of the new deal, although the club’s financial problems means he is not entirely certain to stay.

The Rome-based paper warned that Inter would need to sacrifice one or more key players this summer to balance their books, and that Lautaro could therefore be sacrificed if a big offer arrived.

Lautaro has scored 17 goals in all competitions for Inter this season, including 15 in Serie A (his best tally for a single season since joining the club in 2018).
