Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi’s defiant mood under criticism in Friday’s press conference was not exactly without precedent for elite coaches, but it has not endeared him to anyone.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who suggest that the coach’s defensive posture has blown up in his face as it looked silly after the team fell to another defeat against Roma over the weekend.

Inzaghi was in no mood to accept excessive criticism when he spoke to the press ahead of the team’s Serie A clash with Roma in their return from the international break.

The 46-year-old emphasized that, in spite of the fact that the Nerazzurri have plainly not started the season well, his own record of trophies and success means that there is no doubt he is still the right man to be at the helm.

However, in Saturday’s match Inter yet again blew a lead and lost 2-1, their fourth defeat from four Serie A match and their fifth from ten in all competition.

Now, the coach’s remarks in the pre-match press conference only look absurd, and have also annoyed the club directors and President Steven Zhang.

In the end, Inzaghi’s attempt to show that he is not being affected by the pressure appears to have only piled more of it on the former Lazio manager.
