Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi is set to put his faith in defender Stefan de Vrij to try and stop Robert Lewandowski in this evening’s Champions League clash with Barcelona.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, who report that the coach will hand the 30-year-old his first start in four matches to try and deal with the Pole.

Lewandowski is certainly Barcelona’s number one danger man, as the former Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund striker is currently scoring at a rate of more than a goal a game for the Catalan giants.

Stopping the 34-year-old will not be easy, and will surely require more than just the effort of one defender to get the better of him.

However, the central position in the back three will naturally be the one which sees an Inter player engaged in a one-on-one duel with one of the most lethal strikers in Europe of this generation.

For this match, Inzaghi is ready to put his trust in de Vrij to try and stop Barcelona’s main goal threat.
