Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi is optimistic that he will have midfielder Marcelo Brozovic available to start the team’s Serie A opener against Lecce.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the coach expects that the 29-year-old will be back in full training by Thursday and that he will be fit and ready to start on Saturday’s match.

Brozovic is currently recovering from a minor calf problem, with the Croat having been left out of the team for the last friendly of the preseason against Villarreal.

The problem is not a serious one however, although the team reportedly do not wish to take any risks with the midfielder’s fitness by rushing him back and it was not yet clear what the timeline was based on assessments today.

However, Inzaghi is now thinking that there is reason for optimism that Brozovic can return to training later this week and then be ready to face Lecce.
