Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi is not too worried about the start of the season despite the fact that the team have had a poor preseason.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, who report that the coach expects that once the competitive action starts the team will be able to show their real quality.

Inzaghi has used the preseason to get the team in condition for what promises to be a gruelling campaign to come, and also to get new arrivals and the returning Romelu Lukaku up to speed.

In this respect, there have been plenty of positive signs, although the fitness as well as tactical coordination of the team still look like they have a long way to go based on their last friendly against Villarreal, which they lost 4-2.

The results have not been good in preseason for the Nerazzurri, and more worryingly the performances have been disjointed particularly on the defensive side.

However, as far as the coach is concerned they have used their opportunities well in preseason given how many players returned to training late, and they can use this week to reach the level they need to be at for their Serie A opener against Lecce.

The coach is also keen to keep his tactical stamp on the team from last season despite the return of Romelu Lukaku, and wants to use the Belgian in the system that he has built at Inter rather than reverting to the counterattacking tactics of his predecessor Antonio Conte.
