Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi would be happy with the signing of either Lazio’s Francesco Acerbi or Borussia Dortmund’s Manuel Akanji to back up Stefan de Vrij at the heart of the defense.

This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, who report that the Nerazzurri are now down to these two main targets to bolster the options in the backline and ensure that there is a real like-for-like deputy for de Vrij at the centre of the back three in the squad.

Inter look to have their incoming transfer business all but done for the summer, but one more signing looks to be required in defense in order to make up for the departure of Andrea Ranocchia who left for Monza on a free transfer.

Last season, Ranocchia had primarily been the backup for de Vrij, and so a player will be sought for that role, and as far as the coach is concerned Acerbi and Akanji would both be more than suitable in this respect.
