Inter could use the attacking trio of Romelu Lukaku, Lautaro Martinez, and Edin Dzeko more often this season.

This according to today’s print edition, of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who report that the coach is thinking about turning to the solution particularly to unlock deep-sitting defenses, and not just when his team are pushing for a result late in a match as they were against Lecce.

Inzaghi started with the pairing of Lukaku and Martinez up front in the Nerazzurri’s Serie A opener against Lecce, but after the newly-promoted equalized he decided to throw on Dzeko as well.

Rather than replacing one of the starting duo, the Bosnian was added to the fray, giving the Nerazzurri even greater physical presence in attack.

This may not be the last we’ve seen of the three strikers on the pitch at the same time, and while it certainly will not be Inzaghi’s first-choice setup in attack, he could see it as a real alternative to the usual in certain matches and situations.
