Inter coach Antonio Conte has insisted that it is important for the team to confirm what they are doing match after match following their 3-0 win over Genoa this afternoon.

The Nerazzurri comfortably got past an in-form Genoa side at San Siro with goals from Romelu Lukaku, Matteo Darmian and Alexis Sanchez helping Inter to their 17th league win of the season.

Inter currently sit seven points clear at the top of the Serie A table although that could change depending on the result between AC Milan and Roma this evening.

“Are we close to being the best Inter? It is certainly a good Inter that are confirming all the good they are doing,” the former Chelsea coach told the gathered media in his post-match press conference, as quoted by FCInterNews.it.

“Confirming it from game to game is very important, it was today despite the difficulty of the game, because let’s not forget that Genoa have been in great form lately and had only picked up one point less than us.

“Today we only conceded a few crosses and created a lot.

“If we had managed to finsh the first half with a few more goals than the one we had, we would have been more serene.

“In the second half we were very tough and focused, I congratulate the boys, those who played and those who came off the bench.”

The former Italian national team coach was then asked whether Romelu Lukaku is the best attacker in all of Serie A and whilst he did compliment the free-scoring Belgian, he was also quick to highlight others.

“Romelu is a footballer who has certainly grown a lot and is continuing to grow a lot.

“I believe that the most important step, beyond the fact that he can still grow in football, is his growth in mentality because he is good and is starting to be getting stuck in in tackles, speaking on the pitch, in firing up his teammates.

“This is important because I ask for growth from each player because individual growth leads to team gowth.

“We often talk about the player who scores but let’s not forget those who defend such as Darmian who always does well when called into question or players like Barella and Brozovic who are constants and are consistent peformers.

“We have to talk about everyone, today it was a great game by everyone and I’m happy for them because when you work the results arrive, and when they arrive you work with more of a smile.”

Conte also spoke on Alexis Sanchez and whether his goal moments after coming off the bench can be important for his morale.

“Absolutely yes, I think Alexis is right now in the best psycho-physical condition since he arrived. He is putting a lot of desire, determination and attention into things.

“Today we have a Sanchez that is certainly different from the past, today he is certainly an added value.

“From the beginning or during the game he is a player you can rely on and for this reason you have to compliment him.”
