Inter and Chelsea have an agreement that striker Romelu Lukaku will stay at the Nerazzurri past the end of the upcoming season.
This according to UK tabloid the Daily Mail, and also confirmed across other UK media, who report that the two clubs have agreed that even though the Belgian is technically only on loan at Inter for one season, his time at the club will be extended beyond that.
Lukaku remains owned by Chelsea as the Nerazzurri were not able to sign the 29-year-old back permanently due to the high valuation that he still carries due to the large fee that Chelsea paid for him last summer, and so was signed on a paid loan deal.
The loan deal is just for one season, but the Blues have no intention of taking the player back, as they had been keen to get rid of him as he has no place in the plans for next season.
Accordingly, while loan regulations in European football made it impossible for the Belgian to re-join Inter for more than one season, the two clubs both want him to stay on loan for another season at least.
