Inter CEO Beppe Marotta is aware of the progress being made by potential Nerazzurri transfer targets Davide Frattesi and Gianluca Scamacca.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset ahead of the Nerazzurri’s Coppa Italia clash with Empoli, Marotta explained that the Neroverdi duo are among the players who he and his colleagues are keenly following.

Midfielder Frattesi has made a positive impact in Serie A since returning from a loan from Monza this season, cementing a regular starting place for the Neroverdi.

Meanwhile, Scamacca returned from loan with Genoa and is also quickly showing himself to be one of the most impressive young strikers in the Italian top flight in Emilia-Romagna.

Marotta is following the development of both players, though it remains to be seen if he and the team will move for either or both of the young players.

“First of all, I must take this opportunity to once again congratulate Giovanni Carnevali for the excellent management and development of young players he manages to do at Sassuolo,” he stated.

“He continues to do so and it is expected that we consider these young talents,” he added.

“Along with my colleagues Piero Ausilio and Dario Baccin, we constantly work to strengthen Inter, especially looking at players who are developed in Italy.”

“But we also must reiterate that we’re happy with the squad available to Simone Inzaghi,” he continued, “we’re headed in the right direction and have a strong core.”

On the contract extension discussions he and his fellow directors are having with the club, Marotta stated that “We don’t have agents, but we are men.

“A meeting is enough. We met with Zhang, we are happy in our positions and we’re all happy to continue.”

“And there’s no reason for us not to be,” he added, “since this is a positive period for everyone and we’re at a great club. The renewal will happen when it happens, the club will officially announce it when it’s the right time.”

About Juventus forward Paulo Dybala, the executive stated that “When someone like him has his contract expiring it’s normal that big clubs are approaching him.”

“We deal with professionals who respond to our requests,” he added. “As directors we must be very ambitious in finding players and raising the level of the team.”

“Attempts must be made, regardless of whether we succeed or not,” he emphasized.

“We feel happy with what we have already as well however, Inzaghi is pleased with the four attackers he has.”

On the fact that Antonio Conte, Achraf Hakimi, and Romelu Lukaku have not yet found success away from Inter, Marotta stated that “I don’t know, we just focus on the present at Inter, and are happy to see a team that’s worthy of the badge.”

“Thanks to everyone who is part of the club” he added, “we’ve brought back the prestige of this club for everyone. This is something we’re very proud of.”

And of this evening’s clash with Empoli, he stated that “We want to do our best in every competition we’re in. Tonight that means going through to the next round.”
