Inter captain Samir Handanovic feels that his team threw away the game late on in their 2-1 defeat to AC Milan in the derby earlier this evening.

Speaking to DAZN after the match, the 37-year-old emphasized that the result turned on the last fifteen minutes in which the Nerazzurri capitulated control of the match and two goals to drop all three points to their city rivals.

Inter headed into halftime a goal ahead after having looked the more dangerous side for much of the first half, but the second half proved to be a different story.

Especially as the half wore on, the Rossoneri pushed for an equalizer, and they managed not only this but also a quickfire second goal to take all three points.

Handanovic feels that there’s no one to blame except he and his teammates for allowing Milan to find a route back into the game in the decisive moments late on.

“We did everything, but we lost the derby,” he reflected. “We could have managed the last fifteen minutes better, that’s where we lost the derby despite playing better for 75 minutes.”

“We’re disappointed, but there’s no time for us to cry, we play again on Tuesday, there are many matches ahead,” he emphasized. “We need to move on and do better at managing the key moments.”
