Inter captain Samir Handanovic expects that things won’t get any easier for the Nerazzurri after the international break with matches against Roma and Barcelona, but that they have to take the opportunity to get back on track.

Speaking to InterTV, the captain made no effort to make excuses for the rough form in which the team have started the season, but emphasized that with the busy schedule resuming just on the other side of the break they must try to take the chance to redeem themselves.

Four wins and three losses in Serie A, as well as one win and one loss in the Champions League, is not the kind of start that the Nerazzurri will have been hoping for to the campaign.

Yesterday evening’s 3-1 loss away to Udinese was arguably the most demoralizing result and performance yet this season, whilst the feeling is that things are threatening to get worse given what the fixture list looks like when the team is back in action at the start of next month.

“Three away defeats with three goals conceded in each of them is no longer a random event because it’s happened regularly,” Handanovic admitted. “Udinese were better in every way on the pitch, from winnning duels to the intensity they put in.”

“We made too many technical errors and we didn’t have control of the match the way we used to,” he continued. “The game was up and down, we lost it on two set pieces. We have to regain the compactness that we’ve lost.”

Looking ahead to the two difficult clashes with Roma and Barcelona on the other side of the break, the captain said that “They’re all difficult matches for us, now we have two weeks to prepare.”

He added that “We play every three days, it’s better for us to play a lot of matches because it gives us an opportunity to resolve this situation.”
