Inter Captain Samir Handanovic Given Low Rating For Performance Against Atalanta, Italian Media Report

Inter captain Samir Handanovic has come in for criticism and been branded as the Nerazzurri’s worst player on the pitch for his shaky display against Atalanta yesterday evening.

The Slovenian received a subpar grade of 4.5/10 in the player ratings for the match in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, the only player to be handed a failing grade for the match.

Handanovic’s form for the Nerazzurri has been a ways off from his best, and yesterday’s match was a stark illustration of this and perhaps his most difficult game yet.

The Slovenian was partly responsible for both goals that his team conceded, gifting La Dei possession in a dangerous area with a poor toss out and then parrying a shot straight into the path of Rafael Toloi, and his night could have been even worse had his weak attempt to save Roberto Piccoli’s late effort not been rendered a moot point by VAR.

The 37-year-old had an evening to forget and this was duly noted by the Corriere, while the likes of Nicolo Barella and Edin Dzeko were adjudged to be the best players on the pitch for Inter with scores of 7.5/10 and 7/10 respectively.
