Inter cannot afford to not win tonight’s Champions League group stage match away to Shakhtar Donetsk according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

Inter slipped up against Borussia Monchengladbach on the opening day of the group stage by recording a draw and the result was made worse by the fact that tonight’s opponents surprisingly beat group favourites Real Madrid.

The Nerazzurri club need to turn things around for themselves in the Champions League, a competition which has been far from a happy hunting ground for them in recent years as they have won just two of their last 11 group stage matches.

Inter are due to face Ukrainian powerhouses Shakhtar Donetsk at the Kyiv Olympic Stadium this evening with kick off scheduled for 18:55 CET.

The sides last met as recently as August this year in the Europa League semi final and on that occasion Inter ran out comfortable 5-0 winners.
