Inter midfielder Stefano Sensi is too fragile to cope with coach Antonio Conte’s intense training methods, according to an Italian media report today.

Sensi has proven to be a useful player this year for the Nerazzurri but with him being injury prone, getting him on the pitch consistently has been a real struggle.

As per Gazzetta dello Sport‘s online edition, the problem is that every time Conte thinks he has Sensi back, the Italian international picks up another knock which sets him back – but Sensi’s issues are thought to be mental as much as they are physical.

“Conte demands a high standard of intensity from his players, he wants warriors who can play through the pain barrier,” Luca Taidelli wrote.

“Sensi, on the other hand, is as talented as he is fragile, in terms of his body and his mind.

“He has developed a sort of mental block with returning to the starting XI.

“Conte is close to losing his patience because Sensi always has some kind of problem.”

Taidelli assured that while Sensi never misses a training session for Inter, he rarely joins his Inter teammates in the gym before and after sessions to work on building up his body strength.

Sources at Appiano Gentile have told the reporter that the midfielder has, on some occasions, opted to go home and play video game Fortnite, much to Conte’s frustration.

Taidelli also shared a series of stats which demonstrate Sensi’s indisputable importance to Conte’s team this season.

Inter are undefeated in the eight league games that the 25-year-old has featured so far, winning seven and drawing the other.

When he has not featured, Inter have won just 50% of games, with five wins, three draws and two defeats, dropping Inter’s points-per-game average from 2.8 to 1.8.

In addition to this, Inter go from scoring an average of 3.1 goals when he plays to 2 when he does not.

Sensi has not made any goal contributions this term but when he has entered from the bench, Inter have gone on to win 12 points in total, which the report suggests is too much to just be a coincidence.
