Marcus Thuram has reportedly agreed a deal to join Champions League finalists Inter when his Borussia Monchengladbach contract expires at the end of June.
The French forward will become a free agent next month and is unsurprisingly attracting interest from a host of top European clubs.
Regarded as one of the coups of the summer, Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea have all reportedly made an attempt to sign Thuram on a free transfer.
It appears that the Premier League trio will miss out on him, however.
According to Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna, Thuram has agreed to join Serie A giants Inter.
The news was also confirmed by reliable journalists Fabrizio Romano and Gianluca Di Marzio.
Romano reported on Wednesday that AC Milan were ‘pushing’ to sign Thuram and ‘improved their proposal’ in a bid to beat their city rival to the player’s signature.
On Thursday, Romano then confirmed L’Equipe’s report claiming he will not be signing for Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain, with RB Leipzig also in the race.
Milan were ‘confident’ they would get the deal ‘done’ with Thuram ‘tempted’ by their new and improved offer.
And on Friday, Romano confirmed the race was only between the two Milan clubs with a move to Leipzig ruled out.
After holding talks with Thuram beforehand, Inter’s new offer sent on Friday appears to have swayed Thuram, who ‘is now understood to be oriented to accept their proposal’.
It is a ‘here we go’ for the French international to join the Nerazzurri, with a deal in place on a salary worth €6-6.5m per year.
Meanwhile, Di Marzio says Thuram is ‘one step away’ from joining Inter after reaching a ‘verbal agreement’.
After ‘communicating’ to Milan that he will not be joining, the Gladbach star has given a ‘definitive yes’ to Inter.
Thuram had been linked to Manchester United, Chelsea and Spurs in the past, but never appeared to be too close to a move to the Premier League.
The 25-year-old scored 13 goals and provided six assists in 30 Bundesliga appearances for Gladbach last season.
