Nicoló Barella got them off to the perfect start, cutting inside from the left-hand side and unleashing a fierce right-footed drive into the top corner to break the deadlock after six minutes.

However, Juventus stunned their opponents by scoring two goals in three minutes at the start of the second half to turn the game on its head.

Alex Sandro’s powerful shot from the edge of the area squirmed under the body of Samir Handanović to restore parity before Dusan Vlahović finished off a swift counter-attack with a close range effort at the second time of asking to move Juve ahead.

Simone Inzaghi’s side were gifted a golden opportunity to get back into the match ten minutes from time after Lautaro Martínez was fouled by Matthjis de Ligt inside the box.

Hakan Çalhanoğlu stepped up and blasted his spot-kick into the top corner to send the match into extra-time.

Juventus shot themselves in the foot by giving Inter another penalty eight minutes into extended period but this time there was no Çalhanoğlu.

It didn’t matter as Perišić sent Mattia Perin the wrong way to give Inter the lead.

The Croatian winger then smashed a delightful left-footed strike into the top corner from the edge of the area to seal Inter’s eighth Coppa Italia title.
