Inter have been awarded the ECA Youth Football Award for the club’s commitment to developing youth players on and off the pitch, according to a report in the Italian print media today.

As has been reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Nerazzurri have been awarded the prestigious prize for their commitment to the development of their youth sector and more specifically, the ‘educational project’.

The programme was launched in 2017 and it was wanted by the head of the youth sector, Roberto Samaden, and Inter CEO Beppe Marotta.

From the U9s right through to the Primavera players, issues such as bullying and discrimination are tackled head on and there is a strong focus on the development of the players as individuals rather than just as potential footballers.

Whilst they may not populate the first team, many Inter youngsters have gone on to have very successful careers both in and out of Italy.
