Serie A giants Inter and Roma are set to face off for former Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca.

According to reports from Milan-based journal La Gazzetta dello Sport, via FcInter1908, both Italian sides are set to compete for the 24 year-old and potentially lure him away from Premier League outfits West Ham ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Since departing the Nerroverdi on favour of the Hammers last summer, the Italian international struggled to make his break within England, only finding the back of the net three times in 17 matches across all competitions for David Moyes’ side.

After only one season since his staggering €40m transfer move from Sassuolo to the Hammers, Scamacca is keen on a return to the Serie A after struggling to find form and failing to establish himself as a starter for West Ham within his breakout Premier League season.

Whilst Gianluca Scamacca is intrigued by a move to Roma as the clinical goalscorer would make a return to the Giallorossi for the first time since departing the youth academy after having spent three years with the capital club, as he is highly rated by Mourinho, Inter are also eager to get their hands on the star striker.

Inter view the former Sassuolo marksman as the ideal profile to reinforce the front-line and have made contact with his agent over the past couple of days, having held deep conversations over a possible move to the San Siro.
