Inter and Italy goalkeepers nominated for Yachine Trophy at 2025 Ballon d’Or | OneFootball

Italy no.1 Gianluigi Donnarumma and Inter stopper Yann Sommer have both been nominated for the Yachine Trophy as part of the 2025 Ballon d’Or awards.

Italy’s Donnarumma and Inter’s Sommer up for Yachine Trophy

France Football, who organise the Ballon d’Or awards, are announcing the nominees across all men’s and women’s categories on Thursday ahead of the ceremony at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris on September 22.

Among the prizes to be handed out is the Yachine Trophy, which is awarded to the best goalkeeper across the world based on the 2024-25 season.

Donnarumma, who is coming off the back of an historic quadruple with Paris Saint-Germain, made up of the Trophee des Champions, the Ligue 1 title, the Coupe de France and the Champions League, is among the candidates.

Donnarumma will be among the favourites to claim the award, particularly after helping his team in the 5-0 demolition of Inter in the Champions League final at the end of May. The former Milan stopper has already won the award once previously, in 2021 following Italy’s victory over England in the EURO 2020 final.

Also included among the nominees is Inter veteran Sommer, who kept 22 clean sheets from 53 appearances across all competitions last season.

They are nominated alongside Liverpool’s Alisson Becker, Yassine Bounou from Al-Hilal, Lille’s Lucas Chevalier, Real Madrid’s Thibaut Courtois, Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez, Atletico Madrid’s Jan Oblak, Nottingham Forest’s Matz Sels and Arsenal’s David Raya.
