Insider’s report on unwanted attacker shows Chelsea could be in big trouble this summer

Chelsea have a number of players they’re keen to sell this summer, and some of them are pretty recent arrivals.

We signed Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid last summer in a move that was pretty surprising at the time, and as most of us predicted, it’s turned into a bit of a disaster. He was sent on loan to AC Milan in January, and despite a good start he’s faded fast there as their season has gone down the drain.

Speaking in a Youtube video today, Fabrizio Romano made it very clear that Felix’s short term future is at Chelsea, but also that his long term future almost certainly isn’t.

“The expectation is for Joao Felix to return to Chelsea. At the moment, Milan are not proceeding with any negotiation or intention to keep Joe Felix on a permanent transfer,” the Italian transfer insider said.

“So, at the moment, the situation is quiet. If Chelsea get a good proposal, I think there is a good possibility for him to leave on a permanent transfer.”

That is very much the status quo, then. Milan don’t want him, and there is likely to be a pretty major gap between what we would accept for him (something like £40m) and the offers we’re going to get.

Romano says we’re open to selling, but even he seems to hint that it’s more likely that another loan is incoming. The “good proposal” we’d be open to just doesn’t feel likely at this point, following yet another sub par season from the Portuguese.

Him playing for us next season again is also certainly on the cards.
