A new report has detailed what went on inside the Manchester City dressing room at half-time in their recent 4-2 comeback win over Tottenham.

Pep Guardiola’s side found themselves 0-2 behind at the break, as a late quick-fire double from Antonio Conte’s squad gave the City squad plenty to think about during a fortnight when many have pointed the finger towards their downfalls.

Dejan Kulusevski’s opener on 44 minutes was added to by an Emerson Royal header just three minutes later, leaving the Manchester City players on the cusp of a furious Pep Guardiola team talk as they headed down the tunnel at half-time.

However, a new report has revealed the details of their half-time exchanges, explaining that there was merely a period of silence followed by a methodical breakdown from City’s Catalan boss as to what they needed to do in order to win the game.

This is according to the information of The Independent’s Miguel Delaney, who reports that many Manchester City players expected to be strongly scrutinised by Pep Guardiola during the interval – with some believing that they deserved it.

That was not the case, as The Independent reveal that there was ‘a period of silence’, before the City manager ‘rather methodically’ went through what needed to be changed as they approached the second-half against Spurs.

It is however stated that Guardiola became ‘animated’ at one stage, but only in the way many onlookers are used to him doing, while it is stressed that he did not show the level of agitation that he brought across during the post-match media duties.

The 52 year-old called for ‘a reaction’ from his City players, as well as the wider organisation as a whole, with the former Bayern Munich and Barcelona coach unhappy with the manner in which his side capitulated late in the first-half.

“We are a happy flowers team, all nice and good,” said Guardiola. “I don’t want to be happy flowers, I want to beat Arsenal. If we play in that way, Arsenal will destroy us.”

He continued, “I want a reaction from the whole organisation – not just the players.”

Manchester City return to action on Sunday afternoon, as they welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to the Etihad Stadium with the aim being to further close the gap to Arsenal, before Mikel Arteta’s side even kick another ball in the division.
