Barcelona starlet Ansu Fati cannot seem to catch a break, as AS report that the youngster has had to go under the knife for the fourth time. The complications with the internal meniscus of his left knee, which sustained significant damage back in November, never seem to end.

After his first surgery under Dr. Ramon Cugat, following which he was outlined a regenerative biological treatment plan, Fati still suffered from pain and constant inflammation to his knee, which repeatedly kept halting his recuperation. The initially stated recovery period of four months flew by, yet there is no end in sight.

After multiple reported surgeries and contradictory reports, the winger had an arthroscopy performed on his knee at the tail-end of March. Following that procedure, it would be evaluated whether or not he needs another major operation on the meniscus.

While it looks like the meniscus won’t be completely removed, the fears of another operation have indeed come true. This time in Portugal, the teenager has undergone another surgery, performed by the Portuguese national team doctor Jose Carlos Noronha. He is also the most trusted doctor of Cristiano Ronaldo and agent Jorge Mendes’ clients, among whom Ansu Fati also appears.

Barcelona doctor Lluis Til, who was present in the operating room, played a secondary role during the procedure. Fati was accompanied to the hospital by his father as they plan to keep the player admitted for the next two or three days.

The 18-year old underwent a partial meniscectomy so that if all goes well, he will be able to return to action in around two months’ time and join Barcelona for their pre-season campaign. Hopefully, this turns out to be the final surgery and no more complications arise in the superb talent’s recovery.
