The 23-year-old defender was included in Canada head coach Bev Priestman’s initial 23-player roster for the 2024 Concacaf W Gold Cup which kicks-off on 20 February 2024.
Canada Soccer have this evening issued a squad update which has confirmed Riviere’s withdrawal from the squad due to injury. SL Benfica’s Marie-Yasmine Alidou has been drafted into the squad as a replacement.
Riviere was last seen in the Manchester United team when The Red Devils took on Brighton & Hove Albion in a Barclays Women’s Super League fixture at The Leigh Sports Village eight days’ ago. She was replaced by fellow defender Gemma Evans after just 33 minutes of that contest. Riviere did not make the squad for Sunday’s Adobe Women’s FA Cup fifth round tie at Southampton, a game that Manchester United won 3-1.
Ahead of Sunday’s tie against The Saints, Manchester United head coach Marc Skinner indicated that Riviere has been carrying ‘a couple of knocks’, however, the severity of her injury is not yet known. The player could be a doubt for Saturday’s Barclays Women’s Super League fixture at Arsenal.
