Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher will face a spell on the sidelines after picking up a knee injury that required stitches.

Ireland manager Stephen Kenny confirmed the news, which arrives the same day Jürgen Klopp’s men take on Union St-Gilloise in the Europa League.

Kelleher was the starting goalkeeper for Liverpool’s tournament opener against LASK and was likely to start again.

The injury also sees the 24-year-old miss out on Ireland’s upcoming games against Greece and Gibraltar.
