According to recent information from SPORT, it has been learned that although Barcelona are open to offers for their Danish defender Andreas Christensen this summer, the 29-year-old centre-back prefers to stay and see out his contract.

The outlet mentions that Christensen feels comfortable at Barça and wants to continue playing under Hansi Flick, despite the fact that opportunities will be very limited next season.

Christensen’s current deal runs until 2026, and as of now, Barcelona have not made him a renewal proposal.

Christensen is firm

Despite this, the player’s camp insists that unless something changes before the transfer window closes, Christensen will remain with the team for the foreseeable future.

So far, only Saudi Arabian club Al Nassr have shown formal interest, reportedly willing to offer him double his current salary.

Even with such an attractive financial offer, the defender has expressed his wish to stay in Barcelona for now, aiming to finish the season and his contract in Spain.

It is said that Flick sees Christensen as a valuable part of the squad. He appreciates the Dane’s versatility and ability to contribute at different moments during the season.

This was clear when Christensen returned from injury towards the end of last campaign and made a positive impact on the team.

That said, Flick is also aware that Barcelona have plenty of centre-backs and some departures could help balance the squad and finances.

Barcelona will consult Christensen

If serious offers arrive, the club will share them with Christensen, giving him the chance to consider his future. However, Barcelona won’t pressure the player into leaving.

For now, Christensen’s wish remains to complete his contract at Barcelona before deciding on what comes next.

His loyalty to the club and desire to stay make it likely he will remain a key part of the team, at least for the 2025/26 season.
