Thomas Tuchel provides fitness update on Thiago Silva and Andreas Christensen

Chelsea are all set to take on Brighton in their next Premier League game as they aim to climb into the top four. The Blues are capping off a solid week that saw them progress to the Champions League semi-final and FA Cup final.

While most of the attention has been off the pitch with talks about the ‘European Super League’, on-pitch action has also continued and is set to continue. A win over Brighton will shoot up Chelsea straight to third place above Leicester. With an important game to be played, Thomas Tuchel provided an update on Thiago Silva and Andreas Christensen (h/t club’s official site).

Andreas Christensen has missed the last three games while Thiago Silva was hauled off in the City game right towards the end. Tuchel confirmed that Christensen has returned to fitness and trained on Sunday. While Silva is not injured, it was more about his workload.

‘I expect Andreas to be back and to be available,’ said Tuchel. ‘He did a very good training session yesterday and I hope this will continue today. With Thiago it’s a bit different, not because of injury but maybe because of acute overload after his injury with the two games. He’s not injured but we have to see if it makes sense that he starts again.’
