Tottenham duo Son Heung-min and Eric Dier hopeful of return for Chelsea game

According to Matt Law of The Telegraph, Tottenham are hopeful of having Eric Dier and Son Heung-Min back for the Chelsea game. The duo did not travel to France for the Rennes fixture but are in a race against time to face Chelsea in the derby on Sunday.

The international break was not kind to Spurs and Nuno Espirito Santo. Not only did it disrupt the momentum Spurs gained but also ruled out several key players with injury and quarantine. Son Heung-Min, who has been such a key attacker for the club, sustained a calf strain while on duty with South Korea.

Son Heung-min picked up an injury on international duty

Eric Dier might have been spared of international duties but 12 minutes into playing Crystal Palace and he was down with a dead leg. Both the players were not seen in training over the week and neither did they make the trip with the squad to face Rennes. Not to disrespect Rennes but Spurs have a huge challenge in the form of Chelsea waiting on the weekend.

The game is likely to be a huge challenge but it would seem there is indeed some positive news regarding the two aforementioned injured players. Journalist Matt Law claimed that Son has not given up the possibility to face Chelsea and Dier is also hopeful of making a comeback. Both are in a race against time to be fit.

It’s not clear if Nuno will take the risk with both players given how important they are. However, Spurs can use any boost they get at this point after a rather demoralising loss to Palace. Even having them on the bench might be helpful at this point with the possibility to call upon them.
