After seeing the calibre of clubs to have registered their interest in Alejandro Garnacho, INEOS want to ensure they’re making a pretty penny from his impending exit.

While an offer failed to arrive for the Manchester United star in the first stage of the transfer period, his suitors will have plenty of time to make their approaches when the window reopens on Monday, June 16.

It was confirmed over the weekend that all parties had decided it’s now best for Garnacho to pull the curtains on his Red Devils tenure this summer, which will see his stint in Manchester come to an end after five years.

An unfortunate end to Garnacho’s time at Old Trafford

13 months on from when the Argentine scored the opening goal in United’s eventual FA Cup final triumph over Manchester City, it’s hard to believe just how sour the situation has turned.

Garnacho’s scintillating performances at youth level saw him fast-tracked into the first team; he was granted his debut by Ralf Rangnick towards the end of 2021/2022 at just 17 years old and proceeded to play a sporadic role in Erik ten Hag’s maiden season in 2022/2023. By the following campaign, he was a nailed-on starter.

He sparked widespread speculation over his future in the aftermath of the Reds’ Europa League defeat to Tottenham Hotspur last month. The 20-year-old told reporters post-match that United’s season had been ‘sh*t’, undermined Ruben Amorim’s decision to bench him for the fixture, and hinted at a summer transfer when saying: “I’ll try to enjoy my summer and then we will see what happens.”

Amorim was quick to lay down the law when just four days later, Garnacho was omitted from the squad for the final game of the Premier League season at home to Aston Villa. It was further revealed that the player had been told to ‘pray’ he could find another club in the training sessions leading up to the match.

Who’s interested in Garnacho?

Now, with it common knowledge that Garnacho has indeed played his final competitive game for the side, he is set to have his pick of suitors.

The Independent claims United will demand a fee as high as £70 million to sanction the sale of their academy graduate — all of which will be considered pure profit. Aston Villa, Atletico Madrid, Chelsea, Bayer Leverkusen and Napoli are keen to add the livewire winger to their ranks, while Argentine reporter Gaston Edul believes Arsenal have also shortlisted him.
