Manchester United have a tricky decision to make this summer as to whether they offload a player who’s made it public knowledge that he wants to stay.
The Red in question is none other than Rasmus Hojlund, who has been linked with a premature Old Trafford exit just two years on from his £72 million move from Atalanta.
Heading into the window, with the Dane on the back of an overwhelmingly lacklustre campaign, it was thought INEOS were preparing to sanction his sale if a suitable offer arrived.

Then, however, the situation became more difficult when Hojlund expressed his desire to continue with the club beyond the 2025/2026 season. He told reporters in his native Denmark after a post-season international friendly: “I know what the facts are, and that is that I have a contract with Manchester United until 2030. I expect to play there, so I’m just getting ready for some summer vacation and then hopefully a good pre-season.”
It came amid rumoured interest from Champions League finalists Inter Milan, with the board floundering to strengthen their attacking contingent in the aftermath of their calamitous defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.
Fabrizio Romano confirmed that Hojlund was placed high on their shortlist from the start of the month. Now, following the window reopening on Monday, one report from Corriere dello Sport claims (via FCInterNews) Inter will ‘do everything’ to add the 22-year-old to their ranks in time for the new term.
It remains to be seen how much United would demand for their No.9, but it’s safe to say they won’t get anywhere near the initial £64m they forked out for him in 2023.
In Milan, Hojlund will be competing for game time with both Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram, while Mehdi Taremi would presumably be sacrificed to pave the way for a new addition.
The Reds’ ongoing pursuit of centre-forwards has set in stone that Amorim does not plan to utilise Hojlund as his starting frontman week in, week out. That being said, options are few and far between on the market thus far, and they’ve already missed out on first-choice Liam Delap.
