Football Delhi have reportedly written a letter to the All India Football Federation (AIFF), asking for them to request the the world governing body of football, FIFA to form a normalisation committee which will look after the daily activities of the federation.

FIFA are known to appoint such committees when it feels that governance of the game at the domestic level has broken down, with the move coming days after its president, Shaji Prabhakaran, wrote a letter requesting AIFF president Praful Patel to ask FIFA to form a normalisation committee in India.

This move though has not gone down well the general secretary of the AIFF, who has called such suggestions as preposterous.

“Delhi, being the founder member of the AIFF, makes a sincere appeal to the executive committee of the AIFF to urgently contact Fifa administration to visit India for initiating the process to place a normalisation committee in India as the executive committee of Football Delhi considers it is an appropriate step in the best interests of Indian football and the AIFF," the letter stated.

"Further, the growing criticism in this case is also impacting our work at the state level and based on our experiences, we can anticipate sooner or later an intervention from the court, with a possible appointment of an administrator," it added.

Football Delhi have been understood to have asked other associations to support their demand and it will be interesting to see how this saga plays out.
