Independiente and Santos will head into the second leg of the Copa Libertadores round-of-16 with all to play for after a scoreless draw in Argentina.
The first half was extremely heated, as the two clubs were determined to test how far they could take things before the referee intervened.
Independiente and Santos engaged in a very aggressive midfield battle which got slightly out of hand until the referee brandished four yellow cards over a 10-minute span to temporarily put a halt to the violent proceedings.
Independiente controlled much more of the ball and didnât allow Santos to register a single shot then entire match. However, the Argentines did very little with the advantage as the two teams will head to Brazil scoreless after 90 minutes.

DodĂ´ of Santos would be sent off with less than 10 minutes to play after he earned a second yellow for a reckless tackle.
The man advantage wouldnât be enough for Independiente to score, and they are now forced to search for the decisive goal in SĂŁo Paulo on 28 August.
