Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg not worried about Tottenham Hotspur teammate Steven Bergwijn

According to football.london, Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg believes nobody has to worry about match-winner Steven Bergwijn following his heroics against Leicester City.

Trailing 2-1 to the Foxes, Tottenham manager Antonio Conte sent on Bergwijn to help bring his side back into the game, and the super sub did just that. He ended up scoring a quick-fire brace in the dying minutes of the game to claim a famous victory at the King Power Stadium.

Despite the Dutchman dealing with injuries this season and being linked with a move to Ajax Amsterdam this month, Hojbjerg praised his incredible teammate for his impact on the game.

“We all love Stevie, I don’t know what more to say. We all know he has incredible quality, I am not worried for him.”

Tottenham Hotspur star Steven Bergwijn celebrates scoring for Spurs along with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg.

The midfielder praised his teammates for their mentality and courage to play on till the final whistle despite being a goal down. Hojbjerg also said that the game was an emotional rollercoaster, going from a near loss to winning the game in the space of two minutes.

The Dane was also a crucial part of the game, not just controlling the proceedings in the middle of the pitch but also being involved in both of Bergwijn’s goals towards the end of the game. The 26-year-old was responsible for winning back the ball from Leicester in injury time and setting up the play for Tottenham’s winning goal.

In the end, after the winning goal was scored, Hojbjerg went to the fans to celebrate, claiming there was only one place the players were going to run to after the Spurs supporters who showed their support throughout the game.

“Also how the away fans pushed us, we really felt them through the whole game so it was only correct how we celebrate the third goal, going to them and enjoying everyone together. That is what football is all about, they are supporting us and we are here fighting for them and how it came together at the end was a massive joy.”

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg believes nobody has to worry about Steven Bergwijn.

Wednesday night saw the latest Premier League comeback by a team in the top-flight, and we had Bergwijn and Conte to thank for it. The Italian brought on the Dutch international to turn things around for us, and the winger delivered exactly what was asked of him.

This has not been the easiest season for the 24-year-old, failing to establish himself in Conte’s side as a first-team regular due to inconsistent performances and injuries. Whether the latest run of performances will have him turn around his fortunes at the club remains to be seen.

Bergwijn has certainly given us fond moments to remember following the latest cameo against Leicester. This was also the same man who scored on his debut against Manchester City, resigning them to a league defeat in front of an electric Spurs crowd.

Harry Kane as a striker due to his versatility.
