After being rested at the weekend, N’Golo Kante starts for Chelsea tonight.

That creates a quite astonishing stat – his last 4 appearances for Chelsea have all been for different managers.

He picked up a hamstring injury in August when Thomas Tuchel was boss, and was ruled out until recently, when he returned just in time to feature in Graham Potter’s last game. Poor Potter basically never got to use the France star.

He then started last week’s midweek game against Liverpool with interim coach Bruno Saltor in charge, was rested at the weekend, and returns for tonight’s game with Frank Lampard back at the helm.

Of course it’s mostly a freak of timing, but it just shows what a circus Chelsea have been this season – and how much Kante can do for coaches’ job security.

What we know for sure is that next season, he will be playing for another manager…
