Barcelona star Robert Lewandowski has on Wednesday opened up on his admiration for Real Madrid icon Cristiano Ronaldo.
This comes with the former in the midst of a return to top form.
Lewandowski, of course, has enjoyed nothing short of a superb start to the new campaign.
Under the watch of new Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick, the Pole has looked a player reborn, evidenced by his haul of 12 goals across 11 appearances to date.
Such exploits have served in silencing Lewandowski’s many doubters, who called into serious question whether the veteran goalscorer’s age may have been catching up to him last season.
Speaking to the media whilst on international duty with Poland this week, the 36-year-old was in turn drawn on how he has managed to turn things around, at such an advanced age.
And, after first highlighting changes in his training regime, Lewandowski went on to point towards Cristiano Ronaldo as something of an example of what can still be achieved at the tail end of one’s career:
”My absolute recognition for what he has achieved throughout his career, which will remain marked in the history of football with his records. At 39 years old, almost 40, he still shows incredible ambition.”
