Reports are mounting in the English media that suggest Ruud van Nistelrooy’s days at the Leicester City helm are numbered.
In the six months the former striker has been in charge, he has been unable to turn the tide and prevent relegation to the Championship. In the last three games, Van Nistelrooy registered two more victories over Ipswich Town and Southampton and a draw against Nottingham Forest. That said, his record in his 24 games at the helm of Leicester ultimately brought four wins.
The Daily Mail previously reported that the coach is leaving, but now Sky Sports and The Sun are also reporting the news. Leicester are said to be looking for potential successors for Van Nistelrooy, with former Southampton coach Russell Martin said to be in the picture. Sheffield Wednesday coach Danny Rohl has also been mentioned.
It is not known whether Van Nistelrooy had a possible relegation clause in his contract, but it seems that he can count on a severance payment for his contract running until the summer of 2027.
Ruud van Nistelrooy is now expected to leave Leicester City at the end of the Premier League season.–
