It’s been a pretty miserable 2020 for Harry Kane, and his misfortune has been reflected in a significant drop in his market value.

According to Football.London, the Tottenham striker is now worth €37m less than he was in January.

Citing a CIES Football Observatory report, the website says Kane was valued at €155.2m at the turn of the year.

Now, though, the England captain is estimated to be worth €118.7m to Spurs.

Kane suffered a serious hamstring injury at Southampton on New Year’s Day.

The necessary surgery was expected to keep him out of them majority – if not all – of the rest of the season.

But the suspension of football due to the Covid-19 pandemic gave the 26-year-old time to fully recover in order to play his part in the delayed run-in.

Tottenham will be hoping that their talisman will be able to propel them into the Champions League spots, starting with Friday’s crucial game at home to Manchester United.

However, that drop in value will also come as a concern to the hierarchy at Spurs.

Given Kane’s injury issues in recent seasons and the financial crisis caused by the coronavirus shutdown, they may feel that the time has come to cash in on their prize asset while his stock is still relatively high.
