One ex-Leicester City player who I would surely describe as somewhat 'in the know' has been speaking on the east Midlands outfit. The former Foxes athlete still has contacts at the King Power club. Along with this, he is likely to be in contact with certain current and recently exited LCFC footballers. In addition to those credentials, credence can be applied to this retired professional because he is a pundit, or an expert, for BBC Sport.
And the man in question was specifically talking about Leicester's recently alarming and sparse transfer business. The King Power club's window activity, or lack of it, has been much maligned by the Blue Army fan base. And quite rightly so! Although, I do believe solitary January signing Woyo Coulibaly does show decent promise. But he's arguably just not enough.
In fact, in this article ex-LCFC winger Matt Piper declares that Foxes bosses have been lying. His accusation relates to the aforementioned eye-opening transfer window. And he believes it is the under fire LCFC hierarchy who lied to team manager Ruud van Nistelrooy extensively. Now, if you think back to late December, the Dutchman did admit funding was supposedly readily available. Not to mention van Nistelrooy seeming convinced that multiple additions would arrive. Is Piper on to something in this case? Let's see what he said exactly.
As RvN proclaimed himself in not so many words, City will spend in the new year. Furthermore, Piper clarifies that the club will have made promises to the ex-Manchester United striker.
Yet those assurances were not kept by the chairman and director of football, according to the former Fox. Piper employed an arduous metaphor to hammer home his point:
"...when you take someone on like Ruud van Nistelrooy, they clearly would have said we've done our homework and we're going to have a little money to spend in January."That has turned out to be a lie. We had the money to spend but we couldn't spend it in January due to PSR. That is what 'Top' is telling us."What you've done to Ruud there is like trying to tell him to ice-skate up a hill."Matt Piper
