BILD journalist Christian Falk has explained what Reds boss Jurgen Klopp talks about in meetings with potential transfer targets.

Empire of the Kop spoke with Falk recently, as they were looking to get an idea of what was said in the virtual meeting that recently took place between RB Leipzig forward Timo Werner and Klopp.

Falk has stated that Klopp does not “primarily” talk about football in such meetings. The aim of the meetings is for the player to get an understanding of what Klopp is actually like.

Klopp also wants to see if the player will fit the “spirit” of the team.

“In such meetings, Klopp does not primarily talk about football,” Falk told The Empire of the Kop.

“It is about the player getting to know him. He wants that player to not think of him like his public image.

“He doesn’t want them to have the impression that he is just the guy who is funny or who says clever things.

“Klopp will also see if the player fits him and the his spirit of his team. He wants to answer this question: Is the player ready to do as much running as is required for the Klopp style?”

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

What Falk has said hardly surprises me, and I’ll explain why.

On the outside, Klopp may appear to be quite easy-going, but as we have seen on the touchline during games, he is quite serious when it comes to football.

Going by what Falk has said, Klopp clearly wants to get that across to the player.

Falk also talks about how Klopp looks for a player that fits the “spirit” of the team. Klopp has always come across as the sort of manager that is very interested in players with the correct attitude.

He has stated in the past that he wants to leave Liverpool in a “good place”. Perhaps he feels that he can achieve this by not only signing good players, but also signing good people.

I believe this to be the case because Klopp has said that he wants players with the correct attitude at the club. If he signs the right personnel, he can leave the club in a very “good place”.

Having analysed Falk’s comments, what he says goes on in the meetings is more than likely true.
