Chelsea midfielder Andrey Santos has confirmed he’s staying at the club despite links with a move away this summer.

The Blues are set for another busy summer and finally confirmed the signing of Liam Delap from Ipswich on Wednesday evening, who could be the first of many through the door at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea face a critical window and are still looking to add a centre back and right footed attacker, whilst they could possibly add another striker.

Andrey Santos confirms Chelsea stay

Both incomings and outgoings are really important this summer, but it’s also vital the Blues keep hold of their talented youngsters, who as expected are attracting interest from elsewhere.

Santos falls into that category and the 21-year-old is set for a key role in the squad after excelling on loan at Strasbourg, where he scored ten goals as the Ligue 1 outfit qualified for the Conference League.

Chelsea signed Santos back in January 2023 from Brazilian club Vasco da Gama for around £13m, but he’s yet to make his debut for the club.

Todd Boehly has spoken of his excitement at seeing Santos in action, but there’s been a lingering fear Chelsea could cash in on the youngster.

Santos has been linked with the likes of Arsenal and Bayern Munich, but the player himself has now confirmed he will be staying at Stamford Bridge.

“In principle, I’m staying at Chelsea,” he told Spanish publication AS.

“I want to play, I want to get minutes so I can earn my place at the World Cup. I want to establish myself at Chelsea, I want to play regularly and be an undisputed starter, and win titles in this shirt.

“With Brazil in mind, I want to be in every squad possible and, God willing, be at the World Cup. Those are my goals.”

Dario Essugo set to make debut at Club World Cup

Santos isn’t the only midfielder arriving at Stamford Bridge this summer, with Chelsea officially confirming the signing of Dario Essugo earlier this week.

The Blues agreed a deal worth around £18m with Sporting Lisbon back in March for the 20-year-old, and he’s in line to make his debut at the Club World Cup.

Essugo is set to provide much needed cover for Moises Caicedo , but a final decision is likely to be taken after the tournament on his immediate future.
