“In my time” – Ex-Wycombe teammate tells Bristol City what to expect from Anis Mehmeti | OneFootball

Former Wycombe Wanderers teammate David Wheeler has offered Bristol City an exciting insight of what they can expect from deadline day signing Anis Mehmeti.

The 22-year-old was one of two signings confirmed by the Championship club on the final day of the January window – with the Robins drafting in two attacking players as they sought to replace Antoine Semenyo.

Mehmeti was the first to be announced, signing for a fee that Wycombe have indicated is a club record for them, and has generated plenty of excitement.

Wheeler, one of his Adams Park teammates, took to Twitter after the deal was confirmed to offer the South West club and its supporters an exciting insight into what the winger can bring.

Mehmeti is enjoying the best season of his career to date – having scored nine times and provided four assists in 30 appearances for the Chairboys.

It was a busy day for the Robins, with Harry Cornick joining from Luton Town while both Chris Martin and Timm Klose left by mutual agreement.

Mehmeti has penned a two-and-a-half-year deal at Ashton Gate and could be in line to make his debut against Preston North End on Saturday.

The Verdict

There is plenty of excitement at Ashton Gate surrounding the signing of Mehmeti and Wheeler’s tweet will only see that rise.

The 22-year-old is an exciting forward that can beat opposition defenders with the ball at his feet, is a goal threat, and is capable of producing moments of magic, which should help fill the void left by Semenyo.

Replacing the Ghana international was never going to be easy but landing both Mehmeti and Cornick has already helped to take the sting out of his departure.

A full verdict will have to wait until they produce on the pitch but things look promising.
