Jorge Vergara Madrigal (RIP) was a person of great human qualities who always had time to listen to everyone who approached him for advice. His disruptive and innovative vision made him one of the most successful Mexican businessmen of recent times and this November 15, four years after his departure, we remember him with great affection and admiration.
Since his arrival at Club Deportivo Guadalajara in 2002, he worked tirelessly to restore Chivas to its former greatness and take it to the top of the national and international scene, making its millions of fans proud.
But his influence was not limited to Chivas, since as owner of the most popular and beloved team in Mexico, his ideas resonated very strongly in all areas of our soccer and even directors of other clubs always recognized his vision and inventiveness to give flavor to the spectacle and raise rivalries within the national soccer scene.
Jorge's commitment to expand the sports training of players from the #CanteraRojiblanca led the Rebaño Sagrado to become the first team to enter the MLS in the United States when it established Chivas USA, and later expanded its horizons to the south of the continent when it bought Saprissa of Costa Rica.
As part of his great legacy, Jorge inaugurated Akron Stadium in 2010, the most modern and functional stadium in our country, which in 2026 will fulfill one of his greatest desires: to host the FIFA World Cup.
