One current Chelsea player has been described as an ‘impressive torchbearer’ after a turmoil time recently.

Chelsea have many players who are out on loan this season trying to develop enough to then make it back at the club, or if they have to, elsewhere in world football.

Some of these players look much better than others, and when all Chelsea fans managed to watch Andrey Santos play football when he first arrived at the club, they saw a very decent talent there.

His loan to Nottingham Forest earlier this season was a complete disaster and a waste of time, having been reduced to just minutes on the pitch. Santos is now at Strasbourg, who of course are now under the same ownership umbrella as Chelsea are, known as BlueCo.

His loan here hasn’t started well either, with Santos barely playing. However, he has got to play recently and has impressed.

L’Equipe journalist Cyril Olives-Berthet was full of praise after Santos featured against Nantes in their latest game, with Strasbourg winning 3-1.

Olives-Berthet said on Andrey Santos: “Against Nantes, we saw again the impressive torchbearer that he was at Vasco da Gama, pillar of their promotion to Serie A in 2022. His loan to Strasbourg, which could extend for 2024-2025, should allow him to resume the thread of a promising career.”
