Important match against ManU for Aston Villa Women

The Aston Villa Women know they are capable of achieving results. With good spells of possession and plenty of chances, at times, the only thing missing is the finishing touch for a goal. While their quality on the pitch can be seen throughout matches, they also know that time is running out. In a narrow race to avoid relegation, they only sit with a one-point cushion over the Crystal Palace Women.

Natalia Arroyo is now charged with leading her group against a good Manchester United roster. Sitting currently in third, the Spaniard does have a reason to feel better about her side's chances to get something from this fixture.

In Manchester, Villa managed a narrow 2-1 defeat and 0-0 draw. Although consistently being on the other end of a defeat can be draining, this group does a good job of putting past results behind them and playing with a positive purpose. In some of their losses, it can easily be argued that they were unfortunate to not have found the back of the net and even grab three points.

Words from Aston Villa Women boss

Now having lost six out of seven matches, they will need to once again put this recent stretch out of mind and put up a fight against a top WSL team. Arroyo shared her current pulse of the team as shared by @AVWFCOfficial on X:

"I see the team with energy. I see the team wanting, asking questions, wanting to do more...We know that we are not in our best moment, but we still know that we have the will, we have the talent, and we put our best in every game."

This is ultimately what is needed for a group of players to come out of a bad stretch. Finding that little bit of extra and having a willingness to go further is how this AVWFC side can avoid relegation. Sunday afternoon is an important one for the Aston Villa Women. Even if the win doesn't come in Villa Park, keeping the score respectable can help keep the goal differential advantage, as it's close enough in the league position right now where it may yet come to that.
